So … you say that you are OPEN to Jesus’ larger 3D Worldview?
My own experience as His disciple for 35 years is that it is during these intimate times of prayer and fellowship with God that “revelation in the knowledge of Him” is shared directly from God to us by His Spirit to our Spirit … as Jesus explains it only with His own disciples “not of this world even as I am not of this world”. It is just how any disciple of Jesus would learn spiritual reality just as John explained in 1 John 2:26-27 and 2:3-6 from his own disciple relationship with the Master.
I like to call our discipleship to Jesus learning process “learn by receiving” which is in some ways like that well-known method of learning anything called “learn by doing”. But in a faith that is completely based on a GIFT from God our actual practice and fruit is ALL ABOUT learning to receive anything God is giving to us each day and in each changing season of life in “normal” routines of life on earth.
I believe this “revelation in the knowledge of Him” with expected “fruit” received in real practice is where true spiritual growth takes place for any of us (Ephesians 1:15-23; 4:15). Jesus gives more explanation of any absolute truth to be found in His mysterious Parables and “every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God” directly “revealed” by His Spirit to His own disciples that “the world” and those still following “the spirit of the world” (1 Corinthians 2:9-12) without God’s Spirit are not allowed by God to receive (Matthew 4:4; 13:1-34; 11:25-30; John 18:33-37).
So, the words I am borrowing from George Lucas’ Movie Script to introduce you to being a disciple of Jesus, “You’ve taken your first steps into a larger world,” are no doubt very similar to what Jesus’ original disciples in the Bible would be hearing from Jesus … the King of Heaven … who by the way George Lucas and all kinds of other writers knowingly or unknowingly borrowed from God and His epic non-fiction HisStory first.
Consider Jesus’ own statements of who He really is in God’s own non-fiction version of HisStory recorded in the Bible: John 18:33-37; 17:5; 11:22-33; 8:39-59. Use these references to get you started or to refresh your memory again as His disciple.
I specifically mean Jesus referred to Himself as being “not of this world” while at the same time challenging His disciples to become like Himself … “not of this world even as I am not of this world” (John 17:14; 17:1-26). This was not just some entertaining fictional Sci-fi statement in a Hollywood Movie Script void of “literal” or absolute real truth as many Christians still today choose to approach Jesus and HisStory (see Barna Group Study, 2009).
Following Jesus as His disciple was always and always will be a “literal” transformation from who we were without Him in 1D to where we are supposed to be WITH Him in 3D (1 John 2:3-6). Some “Christians” are “liars” to God and themselves (1 John 2:4) having no real intention of ever becoming disciples of Jesus but disciples of someone else they trust in more than Jesus (Luke 6:40; 2 Corinthians 11:2-4).
Here is a related challenge to think about: Where did those so-called “disciples” of Jesus go AFTER they decided to leave Jesus in John 6:60-71? Read that important part of Jesus’ own experience with “disciples” that just might surprise you. My best answer is that they either became aetheists without Jesus or religious people setting up their own churches without Jesus.
That is a Problem if any of them continued to call themselves “Christians” but from His own perspective of them are still of this world as Jesus warned us NOT to become in John 3:3-21.
Jesus knows who truly want to be and expect to become more “like Him” as His devoted disciple as John taught them in 1 John 2:3-6 too. Jesus also knows anyone having no real intention of truly becoming “like Him” or receiving the power of His Gift from Heaven that makes any of us “not of this world” like Jesus always was “not of this world” (John 18:33-38).
Jesus describes these people calling Him, “Lord, Lord,” in Matthew 7:21-23 as NOT really being His disciples at all and actually not being allowed by Him to enter the Kingdom of Heaven and “church” he is ruling “first place in everything” (Colossians 1:13-18). Kind of important to know the difference Jesus was referring to … wouldn’t you think?
