“So, you are a ‘believer’ in Jesus, right?

Are you prepared to become a serious ‘RECEIVER’ in Jesus?”

What is that?

Jesus called it a “Disciple” of Jesus who is WILLING from the heart to maintain a FAITH in Jesus that RECEIVES the Promised Lands of Jesus. It requires a “simplicity of devotion to Christ” called “abiding” in Jesus to keep us from LEAVING Jesus for anything of everything else. A Disciple realizes there is only the ONE and the ONLY (Ephesians 4:3-6; Galatians 1:6-12) in a world full of “false prophets” and “false” Jesus’, “false gospels” and “false spirits” (2 Corinthians 11:2-4; 1 John 3:24-4:6; Galatians 4:19-5:18).

It’s like the FAITH and determined “I won’t stop!” attitude and LOVE FOR GOD “first place in everything” that Hebrews 10:35-12:29 shares of God’s view of HisStory.

RECEIVERS eventually (and most often immediately) PASS their “John 6 TESTS” from Jesus and don’t fail them. They are NOT perfect people, but their ability to RECEIVE His Gift and quickly ask for forgiveness and move on as they quickly forgive others and move on too (Matthew 6:14-15) keeps their RECEIVERS turned on when mere believers turn them off.

The most important aspect of a Disciple in contrast to a “believer” is what Jesus described as the “fruit” coming out of a person’s life (John 15:1-8).  John gives us more specific details on what that means to a Disciple in 1 John 2:3-6 and 2:26-27. Said another way, a Disciple studies the “fruit” coming out of their Master Jesus’ life and compares their own “fruit” first to His as His devoted Disciple and adjusts their obedience, disobedience, practices, beliefs, etc., to ALWAYS be “growing up in all aspects into Him” which is ALWAYS the GOAL of a Disciple.

The goal of a “believer” is just to get to Heaven someday. They “believe” they NEED His Savior role in their life but they are NOT prepared to be a RECEIVER on His terms “first place in everything” as true spiritual life is lived both in Heaven and “in the same manner as He walked” with the Father, “on earth as it is in heaven”. Like Master like Disciple. Believers tend to create their own terms (doctrines and “way”, their own “truth” and their own “life” – known as the “gospel” they follow) and too many believers don’t know they are in real trouble with Jesus as Paul explained in 2 Corinthians 11:2-4 which is exactly Jesus’ point being made in Matthew 7:21-23 and 7:24-27.

There is a good reason Jesus’ commandment was to GO and MAKE DISCIPLES in Matthew 28:18-20 because He knows better than us that “A disciple (student) is not above his teacher; but everyone, after he has been fully trained, will be like his teacher” (Luke 6:40). His Disciples know this too (1 Corinthians 2:1-16; 1 John 2:18-29). Just discern who “believers” are using as their Primary Teacher for EVERYTHING in life vs. who Disciples are using “first place in everything” and it will make more sense what Paul (the Disciple) was writing about in all his writings including Philippians 3:1-21 and 2:21 and Colossians 1:13-18.

We study Jesus’ own requirements to “follow” Him like those in Matthew 16:21-28 after just challenging and correcting one of His BEST and most devoted Disciples, Peter.

Jesus still challenges us (me and you – Hebrews 12:1-29) too and knows the difference between a “believer” and a “Disciple” … do you (James 1:1-18; Matthew 13:10-58)?

For those reasons and many others too, that is why at Pokyra we are distinguishing the difference between a “believer” and a “RECEIVER” who walks with expected “fruit” like their Master “in the same manner as He walked” (1 John 2:3-6).

So again, ask yourself this question:
